Just FYI, this thread will contain spoilers.
I really really really enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved seeing Mira in her element as a nightwalker. But not only that, we got to see her exert her power in a way we haven't seen before, and see her step into her new role as Elder. I felt that she was being run over by everyone so much in the past few books, so it was exciting to see her take the reins and bring Budapest to it's knees, so to speak.
Nick...Nick...what to say about Nick? He's violent, impatient, and is the top of the food chain, so to speak.
Tristan though...poor guy. Honestly, I didn't see him surviving to get to Mira's age but I did think he would live longer. At least Macaire is gone too.

I wanted to pop in and say that this book rocked! It's my favorite of the series too. Book one was my longtime favorite, but this one kicked it to the curb. I have like 20 pages left, but had to pass out the kudos.

I could die right now and not give a care. Beyond thrilled, happy, sad and satisfied with this book. I don't think there can be a good book without a balance of good and bad things along with serious action and romance on the side. I only truly get enthralled by books like that and this hit way about enthralled and into obsession.
I think that because it took 5 books to finally get together, I'm more in love with Danaus and Mira as a couple than anyone else. We got to see them progress and grow together (and on each other despite personal opinions ;p) instead of it being rushed all in one book (which isn't bad at all, it's just nicer to see people develop a relationship at a slower pace that allows you to enjoy every small detail).
I'm quite sad that we lost two people she held so dear though. I kinda liked Tristan's little spunky attitude and knowing Mira cared for him like a baby brother. It was fun to see them interact. Though like I said before, only truly good books end with the loss of someone. Sad fact, but a true one in most cases.
Now I'm going to shut up and stop going on about my opinions and go reread Wait for Dusk... a 3rd time.

Thank you so much. Losing Tristan seriously broke my heart. I know there are a lot of people who aren't a fan of him and that's just fine. I got to see him the most and I think I saw a lot of off-stage potential that I didn't have time or room to put in the books. I wanted him to live longer, but sometime a writer can't have her wish.

I hadn't read the ending when I posted my "yays" for the book. I didn't even read any spoilers which would have prepared me, but yeah Tristians death was a shock. Now I feel bad, it's like when you talk bad about your family member cuz they drive you crazy and then they drop dead...makes you feel like CRAP! Even though I wasn't a big fan of Tristian it sucked the way he died..that was just WRONG.
I still loved this book, and I've been re-reading it all day. lol I just can't seem to pick up my next book in the TBR pile.....

With Ms. Drake's series I find it very difficult to choose a favorite book. Having said that, I must say this book is beyond words. From beginning to end, I was pretty much spellbound. Ms. Drake, I love it when an author is able to surprise me and you most certainly did that. :oThe mystery of Mira is finally out there and I did not even see it coming based on what we knew about the world you created. Absolutely enjoyed the shock and surprise I felt at finally discovering her heritage, though now I feel like questioning everything. I find my self questioning if I should give the little details more meaning than they should have: why did Mira crave chocolate? LOL! Is her mother really dead? Can Nick be trusted? Is he really her father? It was like Star Wars all over again. I can still hear Darth Vader:"Luke, I am your father." ;D I should have known that all those times you mentioned how "chaos" followed Mira around that it actually held more weight than any of us gave it. May I say how glad I am Sofia is dead? I pretty much danced on that witch's grave. ;D Clarion: I dont like the weakness that warlocks represent to Mira in general. I dont like or trust him and I have a feeling we will be seeing him again. And on behalf of all Dark Days fans: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for CHAPTER 26 ;D I am so happy Mira finally got to be the puppet master. As much as I LOVE Danaus, he needed a taste of his own medicine. Funny, how he didnt enjoy the experience but never once hesitated to dish out that poison to Mira. Men and their double standards..LOL! I am sad to see Tristan part from the story. I thought the revelation of his powers in PfD was a good sign and hoped he would rise as a power to be reckoned with. I hated that he had to leave us in such a gruesome manner. Truly a pity. Macaire: wow, what an A**h**e. I am trying very hard to be good. Ms. Drake, great way to bring down your foe. I like that in the end you didnt use fire. I enjoyed the idea of his shriveling, worthless heart bleeding in Mira's hands. He deserved more pain after how he destroyed Tristan, and wounded Mira in the process. And now for Jabari. Now here's another one who needs a larger, stronger and hopefully fatal dose of his own poison. Totally revelled in his utter shock at Mira's display of power over him. Loved it when she pushed his a** back down on that chair. ;D If I enjoyed the few glimpses of Valerio before, I totally LOVE him now and Stefan is a runner up. I cant wait to learn more about these two. Love the elements of wicked fun they bring to the story; not to mention that Valerio seems to make Danaus a bit uncomfortable. Cant wait to see the hell Stefan and Mira will raise now that the coven has been infused with fire and young blood. I enjoyed that Stefan is not completely devoid of tender emotions and wished he had been able to save his Michelle. Nick, Nick, Nick? I dont trust him and his shapeshifting ways. I dont like him...and I must say again, great twist. This creature was completely unexpected. I should have known. Dam! Absolutely GREAT writing. My kind of READ. Action, Action, gore, fire, fear, doubt, love, hope, death, dread and an obscure future to be faced with the strength borrowed from the hope born between two creatures from opposite poles but bound to each other in fealty. AMAZING!!!

Thank you so much for the book love! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. There was so much that I had been building toward that was finally shown in that book. It was as if I finally got to tell all my secrets and I feel such a release. As for Chapter 26, I'm glad you enjoyed it. While I was in San Diego at Comic Con. I got a text from my father wishing me a happy trip and that he was reading ch. 26. I managed to blush from a couple thousand miles away. I love that my parents read and enjoy my books, but I just don't want to think about them reading my sex scenes.

LOVED Mira getting to kick so much butt. Especially the ending. And the Mira/Danaus aspect was everything I hoped it would be.
Well, now I think I know why LaVina's aura wasn't visible. It's like in Good Omens: "for the same reason people standing in Trafalgar Square can't see England."

Greeneyedwench, I also really enjoyed seeing Mira flex her power and showing that she's in control. We don't see that as much when she is in Savannah because she has already exerted her influence there and things very rarely go wrong in her home territory!

AHHHHHHHH Mira totaly kicked butt is this book. Would it be bad if I said i was crying over Tristan throughout the whole book because what he went through left me in tears more then once. the bastard Macaire I was more then happy to see his demise the old fashen way after what he did to Danaus, Mira and Tristan. Jabair got more then his fair share of pain and surprise in WFD and I am starting to wonder what the price will be for it. As for Danaus and Mire well... lets just say that it is about time they finally agree on something

Finished WfD last night. Absolutely LOVED it! I agree w/others who've already posted. It was awesome to see Mira in her element. Even though she is starting to not relish killing "just cause" anymore. I agreed with Valerio and Stephan, that her doing those actions was what needed to happen. As an Elder and the new keeper, she needed that show of power. Losing Tristan broke my heart, as well. So said and was really unexpected. Glad Macaire is gone! Loved how that happened...go Mira! Nick--yet another character named Nick that I want to see die a horrible, slow death (those of you who read Kim Harrison likely know what I'm talking about!) I would like him but for his pushiness with Mira. I'm very interested to see in book 6 what happens there. Does Mira finally learn a way to get rid of him, or is she going to end up hurting/betraying etc Danaus? Oh Danaus--glad he's finally accepted what Mira accepted about their relationship. That scene...whew, way to go Jocelynn! I hope they get their HEA, they really do deserve it. Jabari--don't like him, haven't since beginning. Will be interesting to see what happens b/t him and Mira (will he really make an attempt on her life now that Macaire is gone, will Mira learn to fully control him?) One final thing, THANK YOU to Jocelynn for working so hard so that this came out so shortly after Pray for Dawn. After that ending, I was glad for such a short wait!! Again, LOVED Wait for Dusk. Lots of action, a bit of love and some questions answered .

Just wow!As is super duper mega WOW!Mira kicked major butts is this book!will she be able to control other like she can Danaus and Jabari?will there be more devlpm't of her powers? I like Nick,he's not only ruthless,he gave mira powers that gives her an edge over the ancients..he also has a sick was of being a father..I wonder what his plans are,and i think its huge by the attention he's giving her.. I cried over tristan, even others dont like him.i like him,he was the brother mira didnt had the chance to have!and i really thought that he would have a chance tp kick butt at mira's side in the future using his powers. Macaire's suck a sick bast*rd!he deserved to die that way!Great job w/that scene ms Joce!1 of the best scenes in the book!i wonder what would happen now that Jabari's plan for mira to fet rid of macaire is done?now that stefan is now an elder i think he would stand w/ mira!i think he would yave difficulty, even mpre that mira could contol him!NiCE!
