The reason I joined the forum was I really got upset over Lily death could she get turned NightWalker or become a Ghost is the pour kid Real gone After 14 years of a suck Life? No Happy ending After all? Just seemed such a waist. Wondered if other were as upset as me if it seemed just a such a waist to them. But the worst part was: It was clear LaVina was Far more powerful than anyone knew and could saved the kid so why didn't she.Hate self righteous(merlin) God types. The Bori was doing what it was meant to do (be a Evil Prick) but LaVina Just acted like Lily was unimportant not worth saving a little T.K. Push And kid would broken bones not her skull. She was going to be exposed a second later it made no difference yet she just let the kid die needlessly. She treated her like all the Humans had in the end and for all her home cooking and grandmother crap she was as cold and inhuman as Any in the NightWalker world, Colder even, The coldest of all. I real want to see the Woman Die. In this world even weakest of witches could of deflected a child body. And I think it's clear LaVina a Merlin goddess type. Maybe even a unbound Bori her self. It should of been well with in her power to save her. I Understand Lily Died for effect but I just really hope LaVina dose not get away with her inaction becouse of some Jedi Master Crap line about how it would be wrong to mess with mortal Level and Reincarnation and karma few tears and a sad smile and camp line about seen thousands of kids die and Holy Vows Oh and ,have some home made cookies. The fact is she a cold B@tch who let that child die. And shed no tears for her death. And did not really even notice her die. Really Really want her to choke to death on her metaphysical self righteous crap and her Home Cooking. She's scum. Hope Mira Drains her dry and burns the Body And can destroy her soul for real with out feeding the Bori. Dose anyone else like to see the sweet old Female Merlin burning to death for Lily death? Or is it just me who blames her? Am I Nuts for being disgusted with her?

I would love to see LaVina get boiled and fried for sure! Not just for Lily either. Not only did she not do anything to help with Lily, but then she just takes Mira away? Couldn't even help Danaus. What is wrong with this woman? Can't help anyone? Poor Lily. Just getting discarded like that! Can't believe it! I'm hoping that maybe Nate will be able to see/talk to Lily in the next book and get some closure to that. It happened so fast i actually stopped reading and was like "what?!" Very very sad. Poor Mira! Before she gets what's coming to her, i hope they torture some answers out of her. Another powerful being with information and a reluctance to share. Maybe she and Ryan are buddies. Jerks!

Good to know it was not just me.I stopped reading and just sat there. I liked LaVina at first but she just a complete Self righteous cow. The Kids death was one thing but the way she died, was the way she lived ignored and unwanted It hurt physically to read.
LaVina the first true sociopath introduced,We seen Evil and people who chose evil and those that think there acting for the greater good. But never some one with no understanding that there Choses are evil. To truly not get it, And think there good. Even Danaus was under a misconception and he was never so blind as to ignore what was going on around him or fail to see he caused harm nor try not to minimized the damage to others even at personal cost.
LaVina Apologized for kidnapping Mira to Danaus yet did not notice Lily nor know that was the bigger issue.
One of the Old Nightwalkers shown Might be as callous but even if it had a plot that needed the child dead if it was to Apologize it would be for letting the child die. But it would of still Understood that was a Bigger issue to Danaus and Mira and that one harmless push saving child would gave her forgiveness for kidnapping or damned near anything.
She called Mira Vampire instead of Nightwalker to be insulting and was acting offended to have such a creature in her Home and gushed over Lily . Right up until she found out Mira could sense the earth. Then Lily she just stops seeing. And sincerely said how Mira rebith was a terrible Mistake. Judging her by what she is,And not what she's Dose with her life.
Because as a Earth magic User Mira would done so much more good for the would out in the woods covered in dog's Blood and crap.Instead of helping people as a NightWalker running her territory. I believe LaVina saw Lily as a Future Apprentice a future powerful Witch Ignored the Vampire till it did the Impossible (touched earth magic) and dropped Lily like a Freaking Hot Potato as soon as She Found her chosen one.
On top that she sounds like she Planning to Fix Mira and Make her human and calls her a wayward child. Who the H@LL DOSE SHE THINK SHE IS?!
Even if LaVina like 2 million years old you do not call a woman who saved the earth had a daughter and is over 800 Years a FREEKING Child! Lily was the child not Mira and (Speaking as a Real Wiccan have been my whole life and a ordained Minister,I own a Newage shop (not a NUT who read this book one to many times honest) ) one dose not Question the chose of Fate or the will of the Earth.
If Goddess did not want Mira a Blood Sucker the Goddess would fixed it so it could not happen. If you believe the Earth's A Goddess you believe it can that.
I realize the fiction different than real world WICCA (has no basis) but the Attitude would not be. A Child Like Lily who found a mother in Mira and a Mother like Mira finding a child in Lily for Witches is the single most magical important thing in existence.
The Mother Child Bond is believed to be the Divine link to the earth mother and nature (hence the name. That the earth is the mother and looks on us in that manner) For LaVina not see that Relationship between Mira and Lily or ignore it .. It would be like Catholic Pissing in the Holy Gail.
When my Wife's dog died (she had that bond and she said"Merry Meet, and Merry Part, till Merry we Meet again!" Because her knowledge that her dog(her child) would be returned to her as the bond was unbreakable"
Honest, I will not bring up Real world religion again. If LaVina was a worthless creature even if she was like this pure evil Force she should saved the child just so Mira would grateful to her.
For LaVina to be this disconnected to let child die and think it would not matter and values people based on there relative use, Well she LaVina the first true sociopath introduced, Please Ms. Drake Let Self righteous cow die Most Horribly! Never have I hated a character so quickly nor so deeply as this Shallow Cow. Congratulation as a Author you did your Job you made me feel A LOT.

Boy you really don't like LaVina lol. I don't feel like we've seen enough of her, or enough of her interactions, to call her a sociopath just yet. Sociopath's have incredibly specific qualities, and we would need to be able to see more interaction with her to be able to determine if she has any psychological/social disorders. I'm just gonna try to wait patiently for the next book, but I will say this: I think LaVina knows something of what makes Mira so different and special.

There's so much I can say here and yet I think it's better that I wait for Wait for Dawn to come out as it will answer some interesting questions about LaVina.
However, I will say that it was not easy to write what happened to Lily. It was not in the original version of the book, but it appeared in the revision. I did cry while typing out that scene because I had grown quite attached to her and had plans for her later down the line. But sometimes ... things change.
I have mixed feelings at the moment. A part of me is proud that I made my readers feel something. To create an emotion in someone that you've never met with just words is an amazing thing and it means that I succeeded as a writer. At the same time, I feel bad for causing pain.
Just as a warning, I cried harder at the ending of Wait for Dusk.

I read to feel some think And that is what it did but it was still a shock. I read a lot ,and I mean a LOT and that the first time in years I put down a book And said "I WANT THE B#$%H TO BURN!
LaVina became very real to me it was a shock. It just Made me so upset but that the point of a story to make us feel. Hard to think of some think that could make me angrier than the stupid waist of a child's life. (It was a very Human thing that LaVina did ignore a child that needed help.) But it made it more evil than if she had died any other way, to die as she lived ignored becouse she was not important. LaVina seem to be one those All Powerful Ancient Beings that could change the world but dose not out of some Code,Moral Principle or Belief structure of not medaling. But that what makes Mira so interesting she is more Human becouse as old as she is and powerful and alien, She would not could not ignore a Child and will always interfere with lowly mortals becouse She sees her self as a Mortal and would see Lily as a child not some Moral Principle and will Always interfere. LaVina actions are more inhuman than Mira will ever be.
I Just Really Really hope the woman dose not get out what she done(and did not do) becouse she says she acting out wisdom or greater good. She needs her self righteous AZZ Broken.
Dose she know what Mira is? Oh I say that's a safe bet but it changes nothing. A small push the smallest interference and the kid would lived. And she shows no humanity and dose not even understand that the child dieing is a big issue with anyone. Really want to read Mira Drinking the cow Down like a Wendy's Strawberry Shake on the 4th of July! I am a 41 year old man and I cried for Lily like I was 10 years old WoW!

Oh lord, I don't want to know what LaVina's blood might do to Mira if she was seeing dead things from drinking Ryan's and not sleeping. >.<

What on earth is LaVina going to do? She said it was "time for this wayward child to come home" What/where is considered "home"? I don't think LaVina is a sociopath at this point. I think perhaps she has lived so long that she has lost touch with humans or that they have become beneath her so she really doesn't worry about them. Like a human watching rats fighting. you don't generally jump in, you know. . . .Doesn't mean i like her though, that's for sure. Is it the end of july yet, cuz i need wait for dusk. . . .Maybe she'll surprise us and redeem herself by sacrificing herself to save Mira or something?? To the lovely Ms. Drake. I can't believe you cried harder at the end of wait for dusk. I am now super excited, but dreading wait for dusk! AAAHHH!!! I really really hope that there isn't another crazy cliffhanger at the end like on this one! I only have to wait a month, but i'm quickly going crazy!

No cliffhanger at the end of Wait for Dusk. Burn the Night is roughly a year away. I wouldn't do that to my readers.

Ooooh. Good title. She wouldn't torture us with a cliffhanger in wait for dusk, but she will tease us with a possible title for book 6. Well played, ms. drake.

Just as a warning, I cried harder at the ending of Wait for Dusk. This is torture! But I will take the small mercy in that the wait is only weeks. I think I will not need the cryogenic pod until after WfD. Should I reserve an oxygen tank for WfD? Cause....well, I'm asthmatic and strong emotions can bring on an episode. Especially if I'm gonna cry that badly Ok. Just taking precaustions. I really love your books.

Isn't it great to be able to live your life through a character when your own life gets you down.

Oh, that book was amazing. Did anyone else cry? It's amazing how intense the writing was. It was so descriptive that I felt like I was right there. I love the chapter where Danaus woke up kissing Mira..........yummy. Perhaps we can finish that act in the next book??? Amazing work Jocelynn
