Ok I know we still have a month to go, but I love love love the candy and getting dressed up! I generally dress up as the same thing every year, a renaissance maiden, but I was considering doing something else. The first thought was that I wanted to be a disney princess- specifically, Jasmine, except I don't have hair long enough and it's impossible to find an authentic costume.
The second option I was considering was a hogwarts student from harry potter- as a Harry Potter geek, I realized I haven't gone as a HP character for ANY halloween! The obvious choice would be cho chang b/c i'm asian, but I'm not a big fan of cho chang.
Last night I was thinking about how cool it would be to step into Mira's shoes for a day- one of her normal days, not the ones that end in a lot of pain. And that made me want to be Mira for halloween, except I have a feeling not many people would be able to guess the exact character because they are not educated in all things urban fantasy.
So I think I am going to just be a vampire lol. We shall see. At the rate I'm going, I will probably change my mind again.
What are y'all doing for halloween?

Ooooo... Love Halloween. Love the CANDY! Mmmmm.... candy.
Er. Wait. We're taking about costumes. Sorry. Slipping into a candy coma for a moment.
I haven't given much thought to a Halloween costume yet. I might go as a ghost again. I like the irony since it's the only time the year that I'll wear white. Most the time, I'm dressed heavily in black.
Random fact that may never make it into the books:
My nightwalkers love Halloween. It's their time of the year to "play a little rough" with the humans. They let their hair down and scare the humans a bit for fun. They don't have to do such a thorough job of hiding.
On the other hand, in the U.S., they hate the Fourth of July. Too much fire and explosions. They usually don't come out on the Fourth of July or any holiday that involves heavy fireworks.
Enough randomness from me!

As for us - the only ones who dress up are the kids - they are probably going to be some cute princess/fairy. Last year my 6 year old was the cutest witch EVER - she even had a skull on her witches hat - I was so proud. *sigh* As for me I'll be wearing my obligatory Halloween shirt as I schlep them around the neighborhood. <lame>

I'd LOVE to celebrate Halloween....but in France it's not celebrated (or very very little and only by children). Too bad really because it could be so much fun. I'd love to wear a costume and eat lots of candy! I guess i can still eat the candy *grins*

When we lived in San Diego a family from Australia moved into our apartment complex. I guess they don't celebrate halloween in Australia either. When it was time to go trick or treating the little boy was gobsmacked at the whole thing - so adorable.

I usually throw on some black and some fishnet (a shirt) and my large velvet cloak black side out and skulk around ...last year we did sit out and give candy, but there weren't many kids. the roomie wants to go do haunted houses or something. *shrugs* I've never been big on celebrating most things. a coworker is having a party on the 17th though, so we'll be doing that.

I spent last night looking at costumes lol. Today my friend and I are going out for lunch, so hopefully she won't mind tagging along as I poke through some stores and look at make-up. I'm the kinda girl who doesn't wear more than sunscreen, concealer, powder, and lipgloss or chapstick on any given day so this is going to be interesting! i have face paint leftover from this summer so I'm hoping to incorporate that, although I'm wishing I had sparkly silver instead of sparkly gold lol. I'm mostly going for cool silvers, greys, and black tones, although I might be persuaded to use a little red I'm having fun with this, as the last time I dressed up as a vampire was in third grade and I just got a fancy cape and some fake teeth. To be honest the candy might actually be my favorite part of Halloween!

Double posting to add that I've got my vampire costume sort of together. Got an awesome black corset from Hot Topic and am pairing it with a black skirt that I already have. I'm going to use silver/gray colors for makeup and dark red lipgloss. I think I'm going to make a trip back to hot topic to get a pair of 'caps' that are sort of tooth-colored sharpened teeth that you glue onto your canines or something like that. I can't believe how excited I am for halloween lol. I'm the type of person who is afraid of EVERYTHING yet here I am dressing up as a vampire. ----------- ETA (oct 11) I have fangs! They're actually caps that you put on your teeth- i haven't fit them to my teeth yet. You're supposed to fit the adhesive and then let it dry or something, and then you can take them off and put them on. All I need now are some black heels I can dance in and some black ribbon that I can wrap around my ankles. I am borrowing jewelry from my friend b/c she was the goth type in high school and she kept all of it. I'm also contemplating black lace gloves. She has a pair that I like- i'm just wondering if it's going to be too much, and too hard to dance in because I'm a swing dancer and I'm only dressing up for our annual halloween swing spooktacular.
