Since i finally received my copy of Unbound, i can now read The Dead, The Damned and the Forgotten ;D So, have you read it yet? What do you think? Which characters do you think we'll get to see again in Dawnbreaker?Edit: Finished reading it, and i loved it! i know shocking huh?! I have to say that i absolutely love Knox, he's funny (loved the way he analyse the answers Mira would want from him) and Mira likes him so that's all good! I also loved the last sentence of the short story, it was really amusing to see it all click together with the novels. It was really strange at first to see Mira before Danaus, but the story does explain a lot about her life in Savannah and the way the other Nightwalkers see/fear her. It was good to see her in her domain once again. I'll read it once more soon because i'm already craving for more, and i can't wait for Dawnbreaker to come out! I wonder which characters from this short story we'll get to meet again... while reading it, i was thinking about that, but all the characters i thought would appear in Dawnbreaker got killed lol

*laughs* well I finally got finished reading it ... sheehs life has been hectic ... anyway, absolutely loved it.... so entertaining ... I loved how Jocelynn (one of these days I'm just gonna get lazy and start calling you Joce, just so you know) tied it in and made it a part of the main series, even if it was wrote like 3 books in *laughs* it doesn't feel disjointed or out of place ... it's easy to read having already read two books, or it'd be a great starting point to get someone addicted to the series. poor Mira though ... she just gets the shit kicked out of her everywhere she goes, doesn't she? I really did like the interaction with her and the others in her domain, especially Barrett and Knox (still totally have dibs on Knox *licks him to just prove co-ownership*)
all in all, very good story, but it had the wrong side effect. now I just want Dawnbreaker even more ... I was hoping it'd serve as a snack to tide me over till later next month, but that's just not that case.

This story was delicious! I read it all in one sitting, which is rare for me. It pulled me back into their world. Now I'm kind of curious about Knox and want to read the first book again to see the transition from this story to the first. Mira has the worst of luck. I just want to give her a big hug. I did like the little twist at the end of the story with Katie. Kudos for the lick at the end cause that had me grinning.
Once again, lovely read. I must get Dawnbreaker!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the Unbound novella. I enjoyed writing it, but it also made me very nervous. After writing novel-length manuscripts, I found it very difficult to write something so short. The offer for the novella also came to me while I was finishing up the second book. Because of the close time frames between Nightwalker, Dayhunter, and Dawnbreaker, I couldn't write a novella that fell between the novels, so I was limited to something that fell before the start of Nightwalker. In the end, I liked this arrangement because it gave be a chance to play around in Savannah and some of its occupants.
This thing is that a number of characters that appear in the novella will appear again in PRAY FOR DAWN because all of that book is set in Savannah.

I did the same thing...I kinda need to get back to the rest of the stories.
Though I'm more curious now about Mira and Valerio now as well after reading this.

Knox is a lot of fun. If I am remembering correctly, he makes a brief appearance in Dawnbreaker. I don't recall him in PRAY FOR DAWN. Mira sends him on a little errand that takes him out of Savannah. I don't know when he's going to make another appearance just yet.
I would love to write a story featuring just Valerio and Mira. I don't know just yet when I would squeeze it in, but I am hoping by around book 6. Fingers crossed.

*laughs* so, uh, that's what, 2012? just make sure there's no release in Dec ... I'd hate to get the book and then have the world end the next day. *grins*
on another somewhat related note ... today I told a coworker that I wanted a Mayan calendar in the year 2012 that ended on Dec 21st *laughs* ... yep, I'm a dork.

I loved the story in Unbound I liked that we got a chance to see Mira function in her capacity as 'the big cheese' so to speak. My mom always says that you can learn a lot about people by seeing how they treat others, and it was interesting to take another look at Mira's relationship with those others residing in her domain. And I'm very glad we'll get to be back in Savannah for Pray For Dawn!

I picked up unbound originally for the Kim Harrison short story in it. However after running out of reading material I started reading the rest of it. The Dead, the Damned, and the Forgotten caught me. It was a very good story and I was intrigued by Mira. So the next day I bought the first two books. That was earlier this week. Tonight I will buy the next two. I should be caught up with the series by the end of the weekend. Needless to say "Jocelynn you have gained another fan." So having started with the short story and gone from there through the books I have to say you have no worries about how it fits together.
