While waiting for Daywalker to be released I read the Twilight series and The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Twilight is more for a younger age base, but as the series progresses it gets more interesting. The Host was not a vampire novel, but it was an excellent book. Its more along the lines of invasion of the body snatchers. I enjoyed all of them and have actually read them for a second time. However, I enjoy most vampire novels, no matter how different they maybe.

I'll have to admit that I haven't picked up the Twilight series yet. I am reluctant to since I don't read a lot of YA, and I'm worried that it won't have the same kind of dark edge that I'm become accustomed to having when it comes to my vampires. I could be wrong.
However, I do own The Host and I have been dying to read it. I've heard a lot of fantastic things about it.

The Twilight series is...fluffy, feel good. It's okay - but it's definitely NOT dark. Well, the fourth book is sort of dark - and it was actually the best out of all them. Of course true Twillight fans were horrified by the last book - but I thought it finally got good at the end! lmao!
For some reason I have no desire to read The Host - hmm - maybe one day.

I'll be honest. I was a fan of the Twilight series BEFORE Stephenie Meyer was catapulted into the spotlight but I was extremely, hella disappointed by Book 4. (I am not ashamed to admit that I fumed and threw a fit in the privacy of my room after finishing the book). To me, book 4 did not fit in with the series and was a whole mish mash of unpleasantness. The first three are not bad- definitely not deep thinking, and I think it sort of sends the wrong message to teens, but it's easy reading. I would say at least give the first book a try- that one was the best in the series. I think for me it was more of a personal letdown b/c I had expected something different- there are plenty of people who love Breaking Dawn and the movies aren't too bad, but for me the last book sort of ruined the series for me. And the Twilight series definitely does not have the dark edge.
Now a completely 180...
I definitely liked The Host. I remember having a hard time getting through the first couple chapters because it was a bit dense but I really enjoyed it once I got past that, which is saying something b/c I find sci-fi is not really my thing. The ending was a bit disappointing, but the story was a great read. It's a great sci-fi read for both die hard sci-fi fans, and people who don't really read sci-fi.

i loved The Host, sadly i tried to get my cousin to read it but she couldn't get through the first chapters, she'll stay a Twilight fan i guess I liked the Twilight series, i just don't like all the fuss around the books and movies, so i try to ignore it and read the books for what they are...books that made me smile when i didn't feel like smiling anymore. =)

I doubt I'm going to read the Twilight series. However, I did buy The Host when it came out. It's still on my shelf unread at this very moment. It sounds like an awesome concept and I'm looking forward to reading it.

The Twilight Saga is ok but if you love the dark side then I think you would be board with it. The forth book is the best out of all of them. However The Host is a wonderful book. It was strange and a little slow at first but by the time you get about 100 pgs into it it really takes off. She has left it open in the end for a possible sequel. If she does then I will be buying it as soon as it comes out.
Basically, I feel she should leave Vampires alone and stick to Aliens.

I am not a Twilight fan. I've never been so irritated by a protagonist as I was with Bella. And Edward wasn't much better. I did read all books, simply because I wanted to know what happened to Jacob. He is the only character I really like. There are major flaws in his character, but I still liked him a whole lot more than anyone else. I could go on for pages as to why I don't like the series but really, it's be pointless any annoy everyone so I won't And I seem to be in the minority here, but I didn't like The Host either. I found it long winded and dull with flat characters. Didn't like it. It wasn't as bad as Twilight, but I still didn't like it.

you aren't the only one Cem ... Twilight is horrid (read all of them too) and I read over 100 pages of the Host and put it down and never went back

lol. Let's play nice. **just kidding**
I didn't read the books. I don't plan to read the books, though I do own The Host. The concept seems very interesting.
However, I do have Twilight on my Netflix. Is it worth a watch? Is it close to the book?

twilight the movie is worth watching for nothing more than comedic value Lol yep, I gotta agree too. I actually even own the film, though I'm not a fan, because it makes for entertaining fun when I want to watch something I can rip apart. As for playing nice, I should probably mention my best friend is a HUGE Twilight fan, so while I'm really not, I don't hold it against anyone. Mostly.
