I keep saying that Rowe and Tristan are some of my favorite characters, but I keep forgetting that Ryan has a special, dark place in my heart as well.
Remember Ryan? He's the white-haired, gold-eyed warlock that is the head of Themis. Sure, he's more than willing to help Mira and the gang when they show up, but can you trust him?
I was curious if anyone had any particular thoughts on him. Is he going to be a knight in shining armor or a wolf in sheep's clothing?
Mira could finally use a trustworthy ally, and powerful one is even better. But is he to be trusted?
What's your initial response to him?

I think he has his own agenda for sure. He's still a mystery, same as Rowe, I just don't know enough about him. He did help out in the battle - but that doesn't mean he's a good guy. I don't think Mira can trust anyone but herself.

There s no doubt that Mira has been betrayed, by one creature, or a combination of a few, I don't know yet. Something in me is extremley suspicious about this charecter. I don't trust him.

I find myslef willing to believe Ryan is trustworthy, but , because there's always a but! It's just too good to be true. Ryan explicitly tells Mira he's in for HIS interests, He has no regrets about killing the other side whoever that is, and i fear Mira (and her big mouth) could fall prey to him.
It's really difficult the know what to think about Ryan, if you could allow me to compare him to another character it would be Trent (from Kim Harrison's books)...if you know what i mean! I love Trent but he's so bad, i really want to see the good in him, still. And that's exactly what i feel like when i read about Ryan. So that was a long explanation just to say that yes i'd fall for it , i'd trust that warlock. I'd might regret it but i'd go to my end knowing what devil took me.

Hello, I am new here but love the books! I have a slightly different take on Ryan. Tome he is like the snake in the Garden of Eden. I mean he has all this specific information.., information that Mira craves and needs. An unlike her first encounter with Dananus, she seems, too free and relaxed. She is almost seduced mentally, and too trusting of him. He is like a warm and snuggly blanket that hides the snake inside. He openly admitted to having ordered Mira killed to her face, and he has made a "deal" with something/someone for magic of his own to harness for extending his life. Everything in life comes with a price .... what price did or does he pay to maintain that magic. Who does he owe? And whomever it is would have to have an interest in a power source like Mira.

i have to agree that ryan knows much much more about things than he lets on because for him to even have the knowledge of mira's existance tells me that they know more of thier kind than james lets on when they visit themis the first time or ryan himself knows more

I think that Ryan will either become her greatest ally or one of her biggest enemys. I dont know why but I think the is going to turn out an ally.

I love this stuff. It makes me all giggly and bubbly inside to hear other people's thoughts on the characters that I love.
Okay, talk amongst yourselves. The authors is returning back to the shadows so she can listen in with Ryan.

Nope I don't trust him. Wondering just how much influence making in Themis and why the group willing to let him be leader. Pretty sure he might be reason Danaus had so much false information about vampire habits.

I know I'm kind of late with answering this but after I finished reading the sneak peak chapters of Pray for Dawn I have to say this. I honestly hoped the Ryan was one of the good guys and I put all my faith in him and at times it did seem like he meant no harm, but ever since he brought James into harms way and the way he seems to keep important useful information to himself and just now when i read the first 6 sneak peak chapters of Pray for Dawn, I don't believe I trust Ryan as much as I use to. I'm actually starting to not trust him at all. *sigh* I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens

Mwahahahahahaha! I'm an evil author and I'm not going to say anything though it's killing me. Ryan has always been one of my favorite characters, but he's not always so easy to write into the books because he's so powerful. I don't want him getting to involved when I need Mira to take care of things.

Water wet ,snow cold , Fires hot so is Mira, Sewage stinks so does Politicians And Ryan is a Politician who proves That Sh#$ floats to the top not just cream. He lied for years ,Hundreds of years about the Nightwalker for personal power used hate and fear to control people and subverted a group of researchers in to a guild of assassins and racist murderers .....What the H#ll is there to TRUST!? Mira should cook him as so as she can and get away with it! He's probably in charge of the other hunter's Group to.

Ya know I was rereading this book trying to find things to ask questions on if I go to JD's Panera meet. Well I noticed something about Ryan. How did he know/feel the Triad was reformed? He supposedly wasn't around for Manchu Picchu. He said he had ordered Mira's death but I don't really think it was as head of Themis. In a whacked out way Ryan and Themis have been on the backend of keeping humans in the dark and vamps under control. Like a rogue vamp can be killed by Themis hunters if a Keeper can't get to them. Keeping the "researchers" from getting real knowledge by scaring the begeeses out of them. I think Ryan is connected to the Liege in some way. Hmm.
