Here is the thing, I finished reading Dayhunter (even though i limited myself to a few pages a day and never two days in a row, yes i know i'm strange , but i wanted to make it last ) and now i have questions!(and i LOVED it by the way) So i thought this thread could be used for all the questions that pop through your mind about Dayhunter. Maybe your theories will help answer them, maybe we'll get some author love too and have some answers Do you have questions about the book that torture you at night? So if you haven't already read Dayhunter you shouldn't read what's coming. Here are mine:*First question, in the end the seal in broken so why aren't the naturi rushing to Earth now? Or maybe they are, but where can they come through? Is it only where the seal was broken or can they "change" world from any "doors" now? *I have another question this time about Werewolves: Nicolai is Jabari's pet because he wanted to save his sister, but i'd like to know what bond links him to the nighwalker. He is only at his services because he said he would? or does it go deeper than that like sharing a mind bound or something (like the bond between a nightwalker and their creator)? (ouh that wasn't clear at all) I wondered, since Mira is trying to help him i was wondering if she'd have to break a bond like the once linking Sadira and Tristan or if it was only a question of protecting the werewolf from Jabari. I had other questions but i can't recall them right now so if it's ok to ask questions here, i'll come back when they came back to mind.

Think of the seal as simply a lock on the door. The process of opening the doorway is a 3-step process. 1st: a sacrifice to get the attention of the "gods" -- this happens off camera in book 1 2nd: a sacrifice to break the seal -- this happens in book 2 3rd: a sacrifice to actually open the doorway -- book 3
So, the ultimate fight is yet to come in book 3 in the ruins of Machu Picchu, Peru
*I have another question this time about Werewolves: Nicolai is Jabari's pet because he wanted to save his sister, but i'd like to know what bond links him to the nighwalker. There isn't any kind of mind link between Nicolai and Jabari. Nicolai is held to Jabari's side by a mix of honor and fear. His sense of honor requires him to hold to his promise to act as a "pet" for Jabari. In addition, he has the knowledge that if he ever tried to leave without Jabari's permission, the nightwalker would hunt him down and kill him in a heartbeat.
I hope that helps.
Any more questions?

OK, so this relates to the first book, but relies on a point in the 2nd, so it's going here When they first meet Sadira, Mira comments that no one else's expressions seem to change when Danaus uses his power to try and see the naturi. Mira wonders if this means she's the only one who can feel it. Is she the only one who can feel it? Is this because she's a conduit?

Yes, Mira is the only nightwalker that can sense Danaus's powers.
I don't think I'm ready to give the whole story as to why Mira is the only one. I think this is something that will come up and be more thoroughly addressed in Book 5.

OK, cool.
Can we speculate about it, then?

Oh, feel free to speculate to your heart's content. The board is open. I just may choose not to comment. Mwahahahahaha...
There is definitely a reason why Mira can sense Danaus's powers and the other nightwalkers cannot.

Speculations only---------- Mira mentions when talking about making a "First Blood" new vampire the process of holding the soul in the vampire where as "Chum" souls leave but return to the vampire at sunset. She also mentioned that this may be the reason she dreams and other vampires do not. But in addition there is the "fire" ability held over from her human state,
So...I am betting that she has her original soul, and as a bori who deals in souls, she can feel him. The other "First Bloods" were not make exactly like Mira because of her ability.
What you think?

oh, I'd say I'm 90% certain that no other nightwalker has ever been created quite like Mira, because of the multiple creators she has, which they did specifically so that they could control her and use her as they saw fit.
as for her ability to sense Danaus' power and her power over fire, I'd say that's definitely carry over from her human life. at least in my speculating little mind. I'll have to do some reading and research, but I have other ideas perculating in my mind.
