It's my turn to ask you some questions. I am thinking about having a book trailer created for the first book in my new series, but before jumping in, I would really like to get some feedback from you.
Do you watch book trailers?
Have you ever decided to get a book because of the trailer?
Have you ever decided against getting a book because of the trailer?
If you've watched book trailers, can you tell me something you like about them? Something you dislike?
If there's a really good one that you love, please feel free to post it here. I'm looking for ideas as well as a company to create one without killing my bank account.

Usually when I watch book trailers it's for books I already plan on buying. Sometimes they make me even more excited for the book, and other times I'm just kind of neutral. I've never actually been turned off of a book because of the trailer. I guess my thought is that trailers can be fun to watch, but they generally don't say a whole lot about the quality of the writing or story so they don't influence my book-buying decisions that much. That said, I don't think I've ever seen a trailer for a book by an author I've never read before, so I can't really say whether a trailer would convince me to buy a book I'd never heard of.

Hi i agree with the last comment. I buy books depending on how much I like the author or on how good the excerpts posted are. The trailer is fun to watch but does not influence my decision on buying the books. If you do one, please get a really hot guy!!!

I have looked at a few book trailers and love them. Music (creates a mood) and hints of whats to come without really telling you anything. Anticipation - it can be tortuously delicious. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, its so true. Hope this helps.

Are you still thinking of doing a trailer JD?
I agree mostly with what carriem said, though I have viewed some trailers of authors I haven't read before. If it catches my attention, I read an excerpt and decide from there or sometimes I read the excerpt then the watch the trailer. Depends on how much time I have.

Nope, no book trailer for this book release. I might try to do something for the second book in the series. I'm looking into several different things at the moment, but I've just never been big on book trailers.
