Just for something different. I'm curious to know if/what phobia's people have. There's so many "specially named" fears out there I thought it might be fun to find out. I'll start. I have a fear of stairs (ironically I live in a highset house, hehe). When I was little I fell down some slippery steps, on my arse and was momentarily paralyzed. It was probably just shock, but those 2-3 seconds felt a hell of a lot longer. Just the other day I put a new slant on my clumsiness, I fell UP the stairs.

Ok. I think my biggest fear are of snakes and failure. There's just something creepy about snakes and they move too fast. Just hate snakes.
Failure... I'm an overachiever by nature. I've always been that way and I went through advanced classes in high school that encouraged that mindset. I grew up believing that I MUST ACCOMPLISH anything I set my mind at and I have to be one of the best. Failure for me is quite crippling.

I'm afraid of heights and, as an offshoot of that, down escalators. I have no problem with up escalators, just down ones. And only getting on them. Once I'm on, I'm OK! Weird, I know.
My fear of heights is weird too. Since I live in Chicago, I've been to the top of the John Hancock tower and the Willis (formerly the Sears) towers. No problem! No fear of falling from there, but in another building downtown (the State of Illinois bldg) they have a 7 floor open atrium. Not thinking I went up to the 7th floor and went to look over the railing to see the pattern that is visible from up there on the floor of the atrium and nearly had a heart attack! I couldn't look toward the atrium again until I was back on solid ground.

Bridges over water. These new shows out now about how nothing is up to code and crumbling doesn't help.
