I think one of the hardest parts of getting a tattoo is deciding on a design or image. For many years, I worked in the financial spotlight, which meant that I had to make sure that none of my tattoos were visible at any time. As a result, the space on my body for tattoos was very limited so I had to be very picky about what I chose. I had to more than love it, I had to obsess about it.
My first design was a cracked hourglass. I knew that I would get this particular design for several months before I finally jumped in. I have a strange obsession with hourglasses. I have felt my whole life like I am running out of time and the hourglass has always been the best representation of the emotion.
Do you have a design/image that you're in love with? Even if you're completely unwilling to get a tattoo, is there a particular image that you love?

I have always wanted a tattoo, but I am allergic to the metals in the ink. There is no point in getting a tattoo when it will constantly be covered by a rash! The image I've always been interested in combines two things that I like. I collect mice figurines. I have mice made of crystal, seashells, lambs wool, along with the standard porcelain and ceramic. I even have a small whimsical oil painting of a mouse! However, there isn't a Mickey in the bunch! I, also, love to play pool. I used to shoot on a league. Therefore, the tattoo I've always wanted was of a mouse leaning against an eight ball. I've never thought about placement however.

susan, I've got the same problem, but there are some organic inks that have no metal in them. you just have to find a reputable artist that works with those types of inks. which is part of my problem.
