I've been puttting off this post for a little while, partially because I didn't want to write it and because I've been trying to do some manuvering in the background with my publisher. But the days of wheeling and dealing are nearly at a end.
Here is how things stand:
Burn the Night will be the Final book of the Dark Days series. There, I said it. Honestly, I can't say that I am thrilled about this decision, but it is most likely for the best as this provides readers with a happier ending than they would have gotten otherwise. The big problem was that the sales were simply not there to support a continuation of the series. (which is why it is so important not to illegally download books -- not that anyone here would ever do that).
Burn the Night will tie up the threads that I have left dangling over the past several books. You might find one or two that I either couldn't fit in or forgot about. If you catch one, feel free to ask me about it. I will try to answer your question.
Burn the Night will have two narrators, switching POV from time to time. I found that I wanted to show some of the politics in the naturi world and I just couldn't do that with Mira so I've allowed another character to come forward who has been sitting in the background.
Is Mira's world dead after Burn the Night?
In my opinion, NO. I have worked very hard to create this world and I think it still has a lot of potential and more to say for readers. I will admit that one of the book proposals that I am working on is in Mira's world BUT does not have Mira or Danaus in it. However, if the series gets picked up, they MIGHT may a quick appearance. I don't see Mira and Danaus ever taking a major place in any story again. Of course, I could be wrong. Burn the Night was left somewhat open so I could return to it. You never know in the publishing world.
As you might have seen from my blog posts or twittering, I am working on new series proposals for my publisher. There are two of them. They are both in the urban fantasy/paranormal romance genres. So I'm not done writing yet. Stick with me because I promise you yet another roller-coaster ride.
