Pray for Dawn was a fun book for me because it gave me a chance to allow James to spread his wings a little bit and face his own heritage. I know that he wasn't in the book much, but what happened to him wasn't actually in the original draft of the book.
However, I did allude to it in Nightwalker, I left it as a possible thread that I could pick up at a later date. I'm glad I did. James was too good of a guy to remain bogged down by Themis. He needed to finally face a past that was haunting him internally. I personally imagine him feeling the early stirrings for the past few years, but it was only when Lily was threatened that the werewolf was finally drawn out of him.
Do you think James can be helped by the Savannah pack or is he better of as a lone wolf, sort of like Nicolai was?

I think he could be helped. Unlike Nicolai, James wouldn't be forced into the pack. I can't seem to see James a lone wolf because he seems to lonely already..(in my opinion)

I think James can be helped by the Savannah pack to a point. He obviously needs to learn that side of him. How to control shifts, how to hunt, etc. Once he's in control, I could see him going off on his own.

I think James is more of a team player, not a loner. I was really surprised at his secret-- I must have missed the hint! I do love James though:)
