Are there any movies that you are looking forward to seeing this winter?
Right now, my list is pretty short because I don't know of a lot of things that are coming out. However, at the top of my list is the new Sherlock Holmes. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I love Sherlock Holmes and Robert Downey Jr. is awesome.
The other movie that I am looking forward to is the new vampire move, Daybreakers. I think that one is going to be a cool one and we need a new dark vampire movie. We're overdue.

YES!! Daybreakers, Sherlock Holmes!! yay!!
Then there's Princess and the Frog -which I know is out, I just haven't had time to take the kids.
It's Complicated looks funny. I'm on the fence with the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It took me a while to watch the last Batman movie, this one might be hard to watch too.
Wolfman? Hmm - not sure. Shutter Island? That looks pretty dark and scary.
I wanted to see Avatar but then I heard it was crappy.

Ohh yes! I saw The Imaginarium of doctor Parnassus...i had lots of fun watching this movie. But i must admit some people left before the end...i guess they didn't know what they were getting into Great movie, weird but great! I saw Avatar yesterday and i LOVED it, it's definitely my favorite movie from 2009. Amazing i tell ya. And well of course i'm waiting for Sherlock Holmes (of only for Robert Downey Jr =P) Daybreakers sounds great but i have no idea when it is coming out in France. Many great movies ahead yay

Did I mention that I saw Sherlock Holmes. OMG!!!!!
I am in love with Robert Downey Jr. That man is so awesome. Loved the movie. Loved it so much that I purchased the score, which I love so much. I'm trying to find an excuse to see it again, but movies are so damn expensive.
I haven't seen Avatar yet, which I heard MUST be seen in 3D.
I am debating going to the movies again this weekend. The choice is between Avatar, Book of Eli (which I've heard amazing things about) and Legion ( which has the potential to be really cool or really really sucky). Any suggestions?

Also, saw advertisement for cool knew UF movie: The Wolfman. I'm not huge on lycanthropes, but this one looks gritty and gothic and just cool. Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving are also in it.

I've been seeing trailers for The Wolfman too!
I don't go to the movies very often, which is unfortunate because there are so many films I would like to see. most of the really big movies that are out playing in theatres are the ones I would like to see, yet don't get a chance to. The only movies I will really move my ass to see are the Harry Potter films lol.

LEGION ... all I have to say is Paul Bettany as an angel with wings ... who could resist?

Wait of minute: "Legion ... way too happy ... too much laughing"
What the hell does that mean? That it was too sappy? That the CGI, plot, and acting were crappy?
"But it was good"?
I'm looking for dark, apocalyptic foreboding, doom and gloom, fight for your life kind of stuff... laughter should not be involved in any form.
I'm confused.

it wasn't sappy ... meant to say that I was way too happy (mostly from the few shots of Paul Bettany with his shirt off and all those tattoos), but uh, yea ... lots of laughing. it wasn't BAD ...they just didn't do it as good as they could have so some of the stuff was just funny when it should have been scary. like when the people get taken over by an angel, they seize standing up and it's just overdone. and at one point one of the possessed gets inside while the lights are on, is seen and starts attacking the preggers girl with a big knife, and cuts off their own thumb ... I'm sorry, but that just had me cracking up, especially when they're standing there looking at their hands wondering what happened. and then the lights go out, and you hear scrambling while they're all trying to shoot the possessed in the dark (fucking brilliant - more laughing there) and find flashlights and then they've got a light on the ceiling showing bloody hand prints that just stop and they're all like, where is he, and it's totally obvious that he's behind someone and then he pops up on someone's back. and the preggers girl totally made me want to smack her with all her poor me whiny selfish bullshit.
but, OMG...the crazy old lady from the previews was hilarious. I think it was supposed to be scary, but this sweet old lady image sitting there eating raw steak half singsonging about how all the little babies are gonna burn just had me cracking up.
the CGI was good. the basis of the plot was good. most of the acting was even pretty good ... I liked Dennis Q. as a cranky old man and the kid playing his son did a decent job. it's just that somewhere in there, there was some poor execution and it wasn't as good as it could have been. but it was still good in a different way.
and there were some good doom & gloom scenes ... the fight between Micheal and Gabriel was amazing and very well done. the cloud of insects was just disturbing.
they were just trying a bit too hard on some of it and went too far and made some stuff just ridiculous, but in a funny way, not a horrible, get up and walk out kind of way.
*shrugs* I liked it ... I'll probably actually go see it again, but I've got cheap shows I can hit. I hate to say it, but this isn't a $7/ticket night show to go see, but if you're lucky like me and can snag a ticket for $4, then it's definitely worth it. and like I said, I'm probably gonna go see it again. there wasn't anything I didn't like, except climbing a mountain towards the end so it could be more dramatic, which was just silly.

Thanks for the detailed description! I'm on the fence now with it. The theater that I like to go to costs $10 a pop for a movie, so for me, it has to be something that I really want to see. If I have to choose, I might go with Book of Eli and save Legion for the cheap theaters.

*nods* I have heard that Book of Eli was really good and am contemplating seeing that one too. Legion is (as much as I hate to say this) not a $10 movie, but it is worth it to see it on a big screen if you have a cheap theater somewhere nearby too.

Yay! So glad to hear that you're finally getting Sherlock Holmes. I hope you enjoy it. I thought it was awesome!
I also finally saw the trailer for Shutter Island. I'm dying to see it. Been watching more Leo movies recently.
