Ok so its almost 2am and no surprise, I'm wide awake. So I keep digging for an answer to the enigma that is Mira. What is it about her that allows her to be a conduit for both earth and soul magic? Why did both nightwalker and naturi seek to use her to destroy the other? I mean, going back to Nightwalker we learn from her memories that the naturi kidnapped her and tortured her in attempts to get her to protect them from the nightwalkers. How did they think she could protect them? Their light clan already manipulates fire so it's not as if they need her fire. So what is it about her that gives her alone in the world the power to seal the doors between realms? Wwhat is it about her that both naturi and nightwalkers either want to control her or kill her? I just had to post this and hope someone else can shed some light? Lol! I don't sleep much so I read a lot and then I sleep less thinking about the books. Gotta love it.

i'm placing my bet with charislight about Danaus being upset bcoz he's got Mira wrong..and i really hope its like that..dont want them to break up!lol well i think Mira got her affinity to soul magic when she got reborn then probably she uses earth magic while before being reborn, like Nia said, she lost it when she died and changed.. about her heritage, im thinking, either of her parents were magic users, and was cursed or something like what happened to Danaus, she was the price.. just hypothesizing.. ;p

I had a weired idea (what else is new Right). What if Mira is the Divines chosen one to save the Earth and it's people. Cynnia Said she was the earths new Champion. But what if she's far more than that? What if what ever made the Naturi and the Bori the Guardians of Earth has decided they need a like Holy Worrier a Chosen Hero to Redeem the Earth and all the Races. A Buddha type Jesus type Moses type Messiah to stand as the All Powerful's champion Hero to save Humanity? Every Cultures got one but What if Mira is it? Danaus Has been literally breaking his Azz the last 1800 years to protect the human race in the name of His True God ,Destroying Evil Vampires! Now I know some have said what if Mira a Bori Virgin Birth, Like Jesus was a Virgin birth and maybe therefore both are Bori Fakes. That not what I mean,I mean the Opposite. What if the Over power that set up the Guardians set up Mira? What if she IS a Moses Jesus Buddha Redeemer Champion of God? (Cynnia thinks of God As the earth.) So she's not really saying Mira is the planet's Champion(like captain Planet with fangs) she's saying she's the ALL POWERFUL'S One True Most Holy Champion .
Like Joshua or Jesus. That the divine no longer is using her sister but Mira as it's Champion. What if Mira finds her self the Champion of Souls Next taking the Bori leader champion Role? If I was a disinbodyed Soul and I had to pick between Bori and Mira I would chose Mira. And she thinks she's been seeing the dead's Souls. Maybe she not really Hallucinating. Maybe she just getting ready for her next power up. I mean why should Aurora have all the fun losing her tittle As Earth Champion, the Bori Leader sounds like a Bigger Jerk it should be his turn Next. If that's True it would upset Danaus for lot's of Reasons (like why not me? And worse knowing not that far deep down why not him.) The circumstances of her Birth might be weird Half human Half Naturi or Maybe Half Naturi and half Bori . But so were Most chosen ones... But it's What Mira Is that would Upset Danaus it's not where she came from but what she is in Danaus's eyes. The thing he always deep down thought him self to be God's One True Champion and Avenging Hand on Earth. Jocelynn told us Danaus would be Very Very Upset when he Found out what Mira was. And to Remember his childhood and His early life. He first was led to believe he was a child of the Gods then and later on the child(soul sold) of a demon. Only now finding out about Bori. So How would he deal with a creature he has only recently excepted as not total evil as the Earthly Hand of God? Mira Blood Drinker the child of the Gods. Not Bori but the Real thing The Creator Gods Great Redeemer and Champion. Not Him Her! The thing he first thought him self to be. The Thing he thought he would should be, him.The thing he tried being the last 1800 years! Jealousy Much Maybe? Funny thing about divine Champion in every legend Pagan Christian Jewish. They all have two things in common , They Do not want the Job and two they are the last people in the world anyone should think to get picked to be stuck with it. If true her limit on Spirit/Blood Magic will be equal to her Earth Magic. I think she the destined Leader of the Bori and The Naturi. I know some will say no that will be Danaus, No this would be done to stop the war and not make a much bigger one and if they are to ever be a couple and truly be Equals Danaus needs that last bit of doubt Gone that Mira's Evil(hard to make that claim if she's Gods new Chosen) and soon he will have the Power to control any NightWalker not just Mira. For her and him to be together he would have to lose his power to control her. And Mira Gaining the Title of Soul Champion would my Guess do just that. And She started seeing Dead People. Just Hallucinations of course or is it something more? P.S. Remember this is all conclusion jumping and guess work after all. LOL

My guess is that she is half Bori and half Naturi. I don't know how it would work, but it would explain her ties into Earth Magic. It also explains why Rowe could sense her when she was "human", but could not tell exactly what she was. Just my guess but I think we'll just have to wait and see for the true answer...

As to her origin and how she was born I completely agree blacksatin773. The Village believed she was the daughter of the Devil. And Her Red hair would not be accounted for just being Bori and her powers are to Naturi in nature.
But the Champion of the Earth would be a bit different and got Divine Epic Ring to it if you see what I Mean. I think the Naturi Leader's Supposed to be Champion of the Earth as the Naturi are supposed to be earth Champions and the Bori Leader got the equivalent Job Title/power. Sort of a Mantel/Title of power each side supposed to get that there creator Gods/Earth who ever pick . But think Mira getting them both instead. As I think who ever in charge (in the Divine sense wants to bang the Bori and Naturi Heads together.)
Anther Possibility is that a Naturi and a Bori might just realized there races were not doing there jobs and together in love or Practicality Conceived and created her to steal the power of Both sides.

This was in another thread, but it's pertinent here so figured I'd quote it. I'm sitting here in Maryland in my lovely hotel room... thinking... debating.... Should I give another hint? I am afraid that sometime next week my publisher will post the first few chapters of the book and the secret is given away in the first chapter. No hiding it then. But for now, I like playing the guessing game. So .... read on if you dare.... The logic and deduction for Mira's heritage has been brilliant and I have to applaud the readers for thinking so intensely on this one. You've stuck to exactly everything that I've introduced. But that's where the problem lies.... with each book, I've expanded the world a little bit, introduced something new. LaVina and Mira's past represent something new. So, here are some clues to remember: 1. Mira was born with the ability to create and wield fire 2. Her powers are expanding as she gains more knowledge and age 3. Danaus is going to be very upset with the truth considering his past Okay, I think I've said enough. Let your imaginations run wild. So yeah, I guess my deductions weren't right since technically nothing I suggested is "new". I suppose weird hybrids might be considered new, but I'm thinking something totally new being introduced. With that in mind and Jocelynn's hints, Danaus probably is upset because of his long-held religious beliefs instead of something to do with his past involving bori and witches (like his mother) or something like that. One thing I considered is Mira's heritage putting Danaus's beliefs into doubt, but Danaus already has learned that Bori are supposedly the root of the angel/demon mythology, so it probably has to do with something else in the Christian doctrine (unless angels and demons do actually exist, but people have just mistake bori for them and thus thought they don't exist). I suppose some of the stuff in his beliefs could end up being real. There seems to be an afterlife (people have souls that go somewhere, aside from the few ghosts), so we can't discard everything simply because angels/demons are supposedly bori. So I've been considering all sorts of supernatural stuff in the Christian belief system. Another thing... I get the impression that the fact Mira controls fire is significant, as opposed to wind, lightning, earth, water, or some other elemental type thing. The Naturi have shown that pretty much all these can be controlled with earth magic, but so far Mira has been limited to fire in terms of elemental control. She's done some other magic too (practiced shielding, sealed doors, banish bori) but none of those seem like elemental magic to me. So thinking of instances of "fire" in a Christian belief system... funny thing is God is actually depicted as fire fairly often (Moses and burning bush, etc), but I'd bet if Mira had something to do with God Danaus wouldn't really be upset. Surprised, amazed, astonished, or dumbfounded seems the more likely responses. Maybe it is something like that, but I doubt it. So thinking of other instances of fire... particularly upsetting ones... This gave me an idea: The Village believed she was the daughter of the Devil. What if they were right? (or at least right as far as a being that the Devil myth is based upon) That'd certainly explain the fire... and I'd imagine Danaus would be pretty upset (understatement of the year). Not sure how LaVina would play into this though... unless she's also a daughter or something and is merely aware of it.

OMG! Rehwyn.... either get more sleep or you are a complete genius! We've since found out what Mira parentage is but you certainly put some analytical plausible theories together. I'm impressed. Jul 7, 2010, 3:01pm, Rehwyn says: Mira's Power Signature: This is referring to how others perceive and detect her power. * After her change, her signature behaves and feels like other nightwalkers. She is detectable by other nightwalkers, lycans, Danaus, and witches/warlocks (I believe). She cannot be detected by naturi. I don't recall it ever being explicitly stated, but since Danaus can detect her, I'd assume bori can as well since Danaus gets his powers from a bori. * Prior to her change, Rowe was able to feel her power, which he described as not naturi, but not quite human. Since naturi cannot seem to detect nighwalkers, Danaus, and presumable bori, that'd mean whatever power he felt was from another source. Assuming we're limiting ourselves to know supernaturals, that means naturi or witch/warlock in origin (since there's nothing to indicate she's lycan). I imagine Rowe would have recognized the power if it was straight naturi or witch in origin though, so something else must at least have influenced it. Somehow Sadira was able to find her as well, though I don't recall if it was ever explicitly explained how she did ************************************ With "Nick" as daddy, it seems that Mira would have been immortal even prior to becoming a nightwalker. So does one think that the reason that "Nick" is so pissed Mira is a nightwalker is that she has the potential to now be killed? Ending his experiment? I mean, what is his true purpose with siring "children". Its been hinted at that he needs Mira/her siblings to get out into the world; so what form/existence is he currently residing in? His focus is on Mira, she's the key, the most powerful of his children. Hence Rehwyn quote: Jul 7, 2010, 3:01pm, Rehwyn says: Mira's Other Magic Abilities: Mira can lock the naturi in a separate realm. Everything so far indicates that no one else can, or at least will, do this. It does beg the question though of who locked the bori in their separate realm? Perhaps banishing the bori didn't require as much power... or perhaps witches were willing to help the nightwalkers remove the bori but not the naturi (if the fact that many witches are working for the naturi now is any indication). ************************************ Wow, my mind is boggling.
