I'm searching for new sounds. I have a new series I am tweaking and I am looking for a playlist. I can't give you any details, which is going to be a hindrance, but let's try this anyway.
For the playlist, I currently have Blue October Eminen (sp?) How to Destroy Angels Cage the Elephant
I am trying to avoid Marrilyn Manson, NIN, Korn, Linkin Park, and Tool, because that's what I wrote the Dark Days to and I need this story to have a different feel.
Imagine a guy who is willing to stand against the system that has been hunting him, but he isn't dark, cruel, or even murderous (like Mira). However, he is shady, sarcastic, somewhat self-centered. His morals are questionable, but he looks out for his friends.
Any muscial suggestions?

Hmm...maybe some All American Rejects? They are somewhat upbeat, I feel some sarcasm in the lyrics. Depends on the scene you're doing, perhaps, on whether they'd work.
Kings of Leon is a good band, as well.

While I was reading the Dark Days Novels I was listening to the new Paramore CD and a lot of the song reminded me of Mira and Danaus. the CD is called Brand New Eyes. the songs that stuck out the most to me are: "The Only Exception", "All I Wanted", "Just Like Me", "Playing God", and "Turn It Off". I hope they help!

hmmmm, it really depends on the mood you want, right?
anyway, I've got a lot of different play lists for different moods.... but based on what you wrote I would suggest:
My Chemical Romance - especially the songs 'Welcome to the Black Parade' 'Famous Last Words' and 'The Ghost of You' Creed - especially 'What If?' 'Are you Ready?' 'Higher' Metallica Nickelback - especially 'Never Again' 'Learn the hard way' Evanescence Live - especially 'The Sanctity of Dreams' Within Temptation Nightwish Sonata Arctica - especially 'Replica' Billy Talent - especially 'Fallen Leaves' 'Pins and Needles' The Killers - 'Somebody Told Me' Wolfmother - 'Woman' She Wants Revenge - 'Red Flags And Long Nights' Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Gold Lion' The Hiss - 'Brass Tacks' ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - 'Another Morning Stoner'

I just picked up the latest Foo Fighters album, though I haven't had a chance to listen to it the whole way through. I have trouble listening to new music and writing at the same time. I'm too aware of the new music and can't concentrate as well.
I also picked up some Grace Potter recently and I'm working her into the rotation. I've seen that Tori Amos has something new coming out soon and I'm looking forward to that. I've been listening to Tori for years!

Here is my latest obsession. It doesn't go with the book I am currently working on, but I'm keeping it tucked away in the back of my mind for later inspiration. Sorry, I can't get the video to embed. Here's the link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSkb0kDacjsHe can be a little hard to understand, so here are the lyrics in case you are curious: Iron by WOODKID Deep in the ocean, dead and cast away, where innocence is burned... in flames. A million mile from home, I'm walking ahead. I'm frozen to the bones, I am. A soldier on my own, I don't know the way. I'm riding up the heights... of shame. I'm waiting for the call, the hand on the chest. I'm ready for the fight... and fate. The sound of iron shots is stuck in my head. The thunder of the drums dictates the rhythm of the falls, the number of deaths, the rising of the horns... ahead. From the dawn of time to the end of days, I will have to run... away. I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste... of the blood on my lips... again. This steady burst of snow is burning my hands. I'm frozen to the bones, I am. A million mile from home, I'm walking away. I can't remind your eyes, your face.

Wow. Have I really been working on this series for 1.5 years now? It feels like I just started! I am nearly finished with the second book. The first book and the two novellas have gone through the editorial process and are moving on. What music did I settle on? Actually, it was all over the place with Gage. His music has been decidedly less angry than Mira's but still somewhat aggressive at times to fit his mood.
Shaman's Harvest has been an excellent match. There was also a lot of Blue October thrown in there along with a little Bloodhound Gang, Foo Fighters, Raconteurs, and Violent Femmes. During Trixie's novella, a lot of Adele was played.

I haven't really picked up any new music lately and I need to. Loving the newest Foo Fighters and I have the score to 2 of the Assassin's Creed games.
